Originally formed in 2002, the new age ensemble began as a Texas-based husband-and-wife team of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, Pamela and Randy Copus, who were later joined by their daughter Sarah Copus. Music had captured both partners from childhood: Pamela took up piano at six and subsequently mastered keyboards, flute, piccolo, oboe, guitar, violin, and bagpipes, while Randy trained in voice, guitar, piano, keyboards, trumpet, and tuba before turning his attention to engineering and production techniques. Prior to establishing the project with Pamela in the early 1990s, Randy had already accumulated experience as a recording engineer, session musician and vocalist, producer, and composer across facilities in New York, L.A., New Orleans, Dallas, and Austin. The pair’s 1992 debut, Wings, showcased their signature blend of lush arrangements, expansive choral textures, and spacious sonic designs. Further albums such as 1995’s Savitri, 1997’s Chrysalis, 1998’s Land of Forever, and 2000’s River of Stars cemented their reputation among the decade’s most singular new age acts. During the year sharing their name, they issued both a first retrospective collection titled The Sacred Well and a fresh studio effort, Across an Ocean of Dreams. Although they briefly considered adopting a new moniker after that calendar year ended, the 2003 release This Moment Now retained the original designation. Subsequent years yielded still more recordings under the 2002 banner, among them The Emerald Way (2006), Legends Series: Timeless and Christmas Dreams (both 2007), A Word in the Wind and Wings II: Return to Freedom (both 2009), Damayanti (2011), Believe: A Spiritual Romance (2012), Trail of Dreams (2014), and Celtic Fairy Lullaby (2016).
