Biography
Named after Krzysztof Kieslowski’s classic film trilogy, the British punk-revival quartet 3 Colours Red assembled in London in 1996 around singer-bassist Pete Vukovic, guitarists Chris McCormack and Ben Harding, and drummer Keith Baxter. Their first release, the Fierce Panda single “This Is My Hollywood,” quickly became an underground favorite and drew the notice of Creation Records founder Alan McGee, who promptly signed the band and issued the follow-up “Nuclear Holiday.” Two additional singles—“Sixty Mile Smile” and “Pure”—paved the way for the group’s self-titled debut album Pure; later in 1998 the EP Paralyse appeared, setting the stage for the second full-length, 1999’s Revolt. By the end of that year the band had split, closing its career with final performances at the Reading and Leeds festivals in late August.
