Adoro, a German classical crossover quintet assembled from five young male vocalists by producer Andy Lutschounig, achieved an immediate national chart-topping debut album in 2008. Formed to mirror the commercial appeal of Il Divo while adding a distinctly German flavor, the Berlin-based ensemble consists of bass-baritone Peter Dasch from Berlin, tenor Laszlo Maleczky from Vienna, Austria, baritone Nico Müller from Klingenthal, baritone Jandy Ganguly from Berlin, and tenor Assaf Kacholi from Berlin. Their self-titled first album appeared that same year through We Love Music, a Universal Music imprint, and led both the German albums chart and the Austrian albums chart’s upper tier. One track, the cover “Liebe Ist Alles” of Rosenstolz’s 2004 Top Ten hit, became a standout single. To promote the release, Adoro toured Germany throughout 2008 and 2009 alongside a full band and orchestra. The strong start generated a steady sequence of further successes, each subsequent album reaching the national Top Five, as the group balanced newly written material with operatic reinterpretations of German pop standards by artists such as Herbert Grönemeyer and Nena. Their fifth studio effort, Träume (“Dreams”), arrived in 2012.
