John Adorney, a composer working in the New Age style, first took up music at the age of nine. Although the cello served as his starting instrument, he added guitar within two years, absorbing strong influence from the Beatles and the British Invasion their success ignited. Piano came next in his training, after which he enrolled in classical studies at the University of Connecticut. A period performing with an ethnic dance troupe ensued, preceding his move to Denver in the late 1970s, where he became a regular presence on the regional folk circuit. From there he shifted to Los Angeles, delivering music instruction at a school for disabled children and later establishing a private music therapy practice. During the 1990s he also began writing instrumental pieces shaped by New Age sensibilities, ultimately placing three tracks on the 1998 Domo collection Reflections. That placement drew the notice of EverSound, which issued his debut album, Beckoning, before the year ended. Other Shore arrived in late summer 2001.
