Govi

Born in Germany, this guitarist now makes his home in California. Deuter, another German immigrant, shares a comparable artistic vision and joined in the co-production and performance on Govi's first album, Sky High. Govi likewise spent several years living and studying in India, where he expanded his instrumental range—already including acoustic and electric guitars, mandola, and cello—by adding the sitar. His work rose in prominence during the 1990s as public interest in world music broadened and enthusiasm for flamenco revived, yielding the new age hit albums Andalusian Nights and Passion and Grace. The resulting sound weaves a gentle, melodious blend of influences gathered from around the globe.
