The enduring bond and artistic alliance shared by the two members of Swiss dance duo Adriatique generates abundant returns: tracks that rank among the most played on European dancefloors (“Ray,” “Home,” “Like a Dream”), a widely praised 2018 full-length album titled Nude, reworkings of material by RÜFÜS DU SOL and Swedish House Mafia, plus an active imprint and live-event platform devoted to emerging talent in house and techno.

The pair first came together in 2008 after Adrian Schweitzer and Adrian Shala, both then-aspiring DJs and producers, crossed paths in Zurich. Beyond sharing a given name, the two discovered numerous affinities that quickly turned them into close friends and collaborators, jointly shaping a timeless, evocative approach to dance music. Their initial singles appeared in 2011, among them several issued by the German underground imprint Diynamic. Steady audience expansion later prompted the launch of their own Siamese label in 2016, which has since hosted both their own output and releases by artists ranging from Ed Davenport to Disfreq. The following year they supplied a custom mix for BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix series. In 2018 they joined forces with Afterlife to deliver Nude—their debut album—which concludes with a “reincarnation” of the well-known track “Ray.”

Once pandemic restrictions lifted, Adriatique resumed activity across multiple fronts. Alongside a consistent stream of new singles, the duo deepened their established practice of remixing other artists; 2022 saw fresh versions of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s “On My Knees” and Swedish House Mafia’s “Moth to a Flame,” the latter featuring the Weeknd. That same year, following high-profile residencies spanning Mykonos to Ibiza, Adriatique unveiled the “X” project alongside fellow rising acts WhoMadeWho, Rivo, and Marino Canala, culminating in a worldwide series of live performances throughout 2023. Several singles, among them “The Future Is Unwritten” and “Like a Dream,” have carried the “X” branding and imprint affiliation.
