Biography
Alex Masi, born in Italy, launched his musical path at eight and joined bands throughout his teenage years. He assembled Dark Lord in Venice in 1984, and the outfit issued two EPs prior to splitting up. With his fresh group Masi, he delivered the full-length debut Fire in the Rain in 1987, followed soon afterward by the second album Downtown Dreamers. Masi then shifted focus toward solo work, issuing Attack of the Neon Shark in 1989; the record drew strong critical notice and earned a Grammy nomination. Vertical Invader appeared as his next solo album shortly after. A quieter stretch ensued, although two further albums surfaced under the band name during the 1990s. Masi’s subsequent project, In the Name of Bach, paid tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach, while Eternal Struggle arrived under the Masi name in 2001.
