Biography
Andy Timmons, a session virtuoso renowned for his dependability and upbeat demeanor, ranks among the most esteemed and gifted players who have thrived on the sideman circuit. He launched his first group at age 13 in Evansville, Indiana. Recognizing the viability of session work at an early stage, he shaped his ambitions around models such as Steve Lukather. Training in classical and jazz guitar led him to Dallas, where he promoted himself as a virtuoso. This profile earned him a slot with hair metal newcomers Danger Danger, and the band retained him for nearly four years. Tours with acts including Kiss during that span helped publicize his skills. When he resumed his solo path in 1993, he brought along considerable industry experience. His subsequent recordings arrived at a steady pace and displayed range, moving from the straight guitar rock of his 1994 debut Ear X-Tacy to later explorations of psychedelic pop and blues. He also established himself as one of the country’s ace studio musicians, performing for Paula Abdul, Paul Stanley, Olivia Newton-John, Kip Winger, and many others. In addition, he handled guitar duties on numerous tours and live shows, most notably alongside Newton-John, the Beach Boys, and LeAnn Rimes. Timmons’ broad abilities have sustained his career across many years, and his continued success appears assured by the sheer volume of effort he applies to the vocation he clearly loves.
