Ally Venable delivers guitar and vocals that recast blues-rock conventions in a contemporary light. Equipped with a commanding vocal presence and a gritty, aggressive guitar approach fusing Lone Star blues with straightforward rock energy, she recorded her first EP, Wise Man, at age 14, establishing herself early as an emerging talent within Texas blues circles. Although subsequent releases such as Puppet Show in 2018 and Texas Honey in 2019 incorporated stronger rock elements, blues stayed central to her sound while her abilities secured awards and expanding listeners. Greater lyrical depth and musical refinement appeared on Heart of Fire in 2021, followed by Real Gone in 2023, where she collaborated with Buddy Guy and Joe Bonamassa.

Born April 6, 1999, in Kilgore, Texas, Venable began singing in a church youth choir at age four, igniting her musical interest. At 12 she took up guitar to support her own vocals, initially leaning toward pop and country, with Miranda Lambert among her early favorites. Exposure to Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Texas Flood redirected her focus toward Texas blues, and Vaughan became her primary influence alongside Jimi Hendrix from classic rock, Joe Bonamassa from the contemporary scene, and Chicago blues figures Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Buddy Guy. Her abilities developed rapidly enough for her to assemble a band and perform live; in June 2013 she issued the seven-track Wise Man EP showcasing her forceful blues-rooted approach.

Train Wreck Blues arrived in May 2015 with a harder edge, earning her Female Blues Guitarist of the Year honors at the EXT Music Awards in both 2014 and 2015, while her group received Best Blues Band recognition in 2015 and 2016. No Glass Shoes followed in July 2016 and captured another ETX Award for Best Blues Album. Puppet Show, released May 2018, introduced more hard-rock textures yet retained a heavy blues foundation; guests Gary Hoey and Lance Lopez appeared on the recording, which reached number seven on the national blues charts. Further acknowledgment came with Independent Blues Awards nominations for Best New Artist and Best Blues Rock Band that year. Texas Honey emerged in March 2019, and later that year she joined Ina Forsman and Katarina Pejak on Ruf Records’ Blues Caravan 2019 tour.

Heart of Fire, issued in 2021, reflected a more seasoned songwriting perspective and was named among Blues Rock Review’s twenty standout releases of the year; guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd guested on the album and later booked her as his opening act. The Independent Blues Music Awards presented her with the Road Warrior award in 2022, honoring her extensive touring as both headliner and support for prominent blues artists. Real Gone appeared in 2023, produced by Tom Hambridge and featuring a vocal cameo from Buddy Guy plus guitar contributions from Joe Bonamassa.
