Alquin, a Dutch ensemble, issued four studio albums across the first half of the 1970s while initially favoring progressive rock in the vein of Pink Floyd and Roxy Music. With the 1975 release Nobody Can Wait Forever—the band’s sole album to reach the U.S.—their approach shifted toward a wider range that folded in blues and hard rock. The founding members were guitarist/vocalist Ferdinand Bakker, vocalist Job Tarenskeen, bassist Hein Mars, drummer Paul Weststrate, and horn player Ronald Ottenhoff; Michel Van Dyke entered as lead vocalist the same year. A live set surfaced in 1976, and the best-of compilation Crash! followed twelve months afterward. Bakker and Tarenskeen later joined the new wave outfit the Meteors during the late ’70s and early ’80s.
