Andreas Dorau

Decades after first claiming the summit of Germany's pop landscape, Andreas Dorau remains among the country's foremost vocalists. In 1998 his English-language single "Girls in Love" crossed borders to top Belgium's pop charts.

Guitar in hand since childhood, Dorau issued his debut single, "The Laughing Pope," while still a young teenager. Composed as a classroom assignment, his earliest hit, "Fred vom Jupiter" (Fred from Jupiter), first appeared under the invented banner die Doraus & die Marinas and registered an international pop success in late 1982.

As the 1980s wound down, Dorau issued several little-known house tracks under the guises Van Gogh Posse and the Picasso Melody Five.
