Produced under the banner of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, the unconventional animated series Animaniacs premiered on the Fox network on September 13, 1993. Centered on the zany escapades of the anthropomorphic Warner siblings—brothers Yakko and Wakko along with their sister Dot—the program won over both popular audiences and reviewers, claiming the distinguished George Foster Peabody Award. Much of its appeal stemmed from the songs and score, shaped chiefly by supervising composer Richard Stone. He received two Daytime Emmy Awards covering Achievement in Music Direction and Composition plus Original Song, while a 30-piece orchestra performed the music on the Warner Bros. studio sound stage that had once hosted legendary music director Carl Stalling. The series further spawned several soundtrack albums, including 1994's Animaniacs: Songs from the Hit TV Series and Yakko's World as well as 1995's A Christmas Plotz and 1997's Hip-Hopera Christmas.
