Nicolas Dupuis, performing under the moniker Anomalie, crafts intricate yet rhythm-driven jazz-funk that weaves in elements of hip-hop, EDM, and classical music. He appears onstage backed by a four-piece ensemble and has led sold-out headline runs across multiple continents while also appearing at festivals spanning both jazz and electronic worlds. After refining his approach and skills across the 2010s, he issued the pair of Métropole EPs before linking with Chromeo for the 2020 EP Bend the Rules. His first proper full-length, 2022’s Galerie, brought in contributors including Masego and Shad, while the short Christmas-oriented Holidays arrived the following year.

Raised in Montreal, Dupuis received formal instruction in jazz and classical piano. Operating as Anomalie, he initially shared footage of live jamming sessions via his YouTube channel prior to any official music drops. After several early singles such as the high-impact glitch-hop cut “Odyssée,” the first Métropole EP surfaced in 2017, succeeded by “No Way” and the Rob Araujo joint “Hang Glide.” Métropole Part II followed in 2018, after which he joined forces with Gramatik, Wacka Flocka Flame, and Chrishira Perrier on the 2019 single “Requiem for Peace.” The three-track Bend the Rules EP with Chromeo landed in 2020 and later received a deluxe version stocked with remixes. Signing with Nettwerk, Anomalie unveiled his debut album Galerie in 2022, sharpening the fluid, groove-centered side of his music without sacrificing its elaborate constructions; the record featured turns from Shad, Masego, India Carney, Mael, and additional guests. On the 2023 project Holidays he reimagined Christmas standards.
