As a multi-instrumentalist who also writes and produces, Masego fuses trap, house, and jazz into an emotionally resonant strain of future R&B. Early notice arrived via videos that captured his knack for creating material in the moment. After circulating singles and shorter projects for several years, he delivered his first proper full-length, the sensual Lady Lady, in 2018. Appearances on tracks by Kehlani, Kaytranada, Drake, and additional artists filled his schedule, and he followed with the Studying Abroad EP in 2020 before releasing an expanded edition. His sleek, atmospheric second album, Masego, surfaced in 2023.

Micah Davis entered the world in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1993 and spent his childhood in Newport News, Virginia, where an insatiable interest in music prompted him to teach himself cello, drums, piano, and guitar while developing particular skill on saxophone. He began uploading original songs as he refined his approach, sharing footage of live looping and spontaneous beat construction along with recordings that placed his improvised saxophone lines over beats by other producers. The 2015 Pink Polo EP, created with Medasin, contained the single “Girls That Dance” and preceded Loose Thoughts, which appeared in 2016.

Masego issued the collaborative single “Tadow” with French artist FKJ in 2017. Its video spread quickly, presenting the two performers as they live-looped every instrument in the studio. The track was included on Lady Lady, officially released in September 2018. He stayed active by producing or contributing to projects from VanJess, Ari Lennox, the Game, Kaytranada, and others while also dropping solo singles such as the body-positive anthem “Big Girls.” In 2020 he joined Kehlani on “Hate the Club” and Ro James on “Slow Down,” issued numerous solo tracks including “Mystery Lady” from the Studying Abroad EP, and later saw the Grammy-nominated deluxe version Studying Abroad: Extended Stay arrive in May 2021. Further credits include the song “Somethin’ Ain’t Right” with JID and Rapsody on Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album, co-production on “Champagne Poetry,” the opening track of Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, plus the live-in-studio EP Capitol Cuts, the single “Garden Party” with Big Boi and JID, and “Yamz” alongside Devin Morrison. The solo single “Say You Want Me” followed in 2022. His second full-length, Masego, came out in March 2023, after which the album track “You Never Visit Me” received an updated single release featuring Wale and Enny.
