Xavier Adams, who once recorded under the name SPZRKT, shapes introspective and richly emotive contemporary R&B as Xavier Omär. After several joint projects, his initial solo release under the new identity, The Everlasting Wave, surfaced in 2016. His first full-length project, If You Feel, arrived via RCA Records in 2020. Following a subdued 2021, Adams resurfaced in 2022 as an independent artist with the b l u r r EP.

Raised in San Antonio, the artist drew from his church background and drew inspiration from figures such as John Legend and Frank Ocean. He began appearing under the Xavier Omär credit on collaborative tracks as early as 2013. Momentum increased sharply in 2016, when the name surfaced on Asaiah Ziv’s “Here,” Swade’s “Alumni,” Masego’s “Wifeable,” Noname’s “All I Need,” Avalon Young’s “Dealin’,” and Mick Jenkins’s “Angles.” That same year Adams partnered with Sango for the EP Hours Spent Loving You and delivered his own carefully produced solo effort of comparable scope, The Everlasting Wave, in October. The next year brought the Pink Lightning EP on Never Sleep Music.

Omär joined RCA Records to issue his debut album, If You Feel, which included appearances by Masego and Mereba and reached listeners in October 2020. He later stepped away from major-label affiliation yet sustained audience growth. In May 2022 he unveiled the smoldering ballad “Feelings 4 You,” quickly followed by the brighter “Tarantino.” Both tracks featured on b l u r r, a six-song EP issued that July. Barack Obama named “Feelings 4 You” among his favorite songs of 2022.
