Brandon Banks has carved out a distinctive lane within modern R&B as an American vocalist whose early singles, including the 2018 release “Autumn” and the 2020 cut “SELF,” quickly amassed substantial streaming numbers. His first full-length project, Natural Progressions, arrived in 2022 and further broadened his sonic range by weaving together pop, hip-hop, and alternative R&B textures.

Raised in Inglewood, California, Banks developed an early affinity for poetry and lyric writing amid constant exposure to R&B, funk, and hip-hop. He began composing original material, learned guitar on his own, and, guided by alternative R&B’s exploratory spirit, pursued a more unconventional songwriting style. The single “Autumn” marked his 2018 debut and swiftly attracted listeners; after issuing several additional tracks that year, he unveiled his debut EP, Tides. In the following years, while maintaining a thriving modeling career, he kept recording and releasing music with his sights set on completing a debut album. Ahead of that album’s arrival, “Get On,” “Tryin,” and “Wonderland” surfaced in early 2022. Natural Progressions landed in June, revealing further sonic growth and drawing influence from fellow artists James Blake and Frank Ocean.
