Sylvan Lacue

Sylvan Lacue came into the world in Miami, Florida in 1990. He first took the stage at age 19, drawing early inspiration from Drake and recording under the name QuESt for several years. Victory in Jermaine Dupri’s Survival of the MCs contest in 2009 earned him a contract with the producer’s TAG Records imprint, yet the label shut down before any albums could be completed. Lacue continued to post tracks online while holding down jobs to make ends meet. The 2014 mixtape Searching Sylvan appeared under the QuESt alias, after which he chose to perform under his given name. Evangeline, his first project as Sylvan Lacue, arrived as an EP in 2015 and was followed by the full-length album Far from Familiar in 2016. His approach had shifted markedly toward narrative-driven songwriting. Work on the next album, Apologies in Advance, led to its release in early 2018.
