Deante' Hitchcock

Deante' Hitchcock hails from Riverdale, a modest Atlanta suburb, where he has built a reputation as a skilled rapper and introspective songwriter whose work reaches wide audiences while preserving creative autonomy. Versatility marks his approach, evident across studio albums, freestyle performances, and shows backed by a live band.

After initial traction from scattered video uploads and independent material, he entered a major-label chapter marked by the 2020 album Better and the 2023 release Once Upon a Time, alongside numerous singles, EPs, and assorted projects.

Nephew of songwriter and producer Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, Hitchcock began releasing music seriously as a teenager, issuing his first mixtape 19 Summers in 2012 while enrolled at Georgia Southern University. Later independent efforts Wishful Thinking in 2015 and Good in 2016, together with freestyle clips posted to social platforms, grew his reach past regional listeners.

The Just a Sample EP and the concert recording Good: Live both surfaced in early 2017, after which he signed with ByStorm, an RCA-affiliated imprint, and reemerged that October via the six-track So Much for Good Luck. At that stage, comparisons to T.I. and J. Cole surfaced, although his own voice and style bridged fans of both artists.

Tracks such as "I See It" and "Side N*gga," plus the Just a Sample 2 EP, sustained momentum through 2019, the same year he appeared on Dreamville's Grammy-nominated compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III.

Better followed as a full-length album in 2020, the second entry in a planned trilogy, and stood out for singles "How TF" featuring 6LACK and "I Got Money Now" featuring JID, as well as "Flashbacks" with St. Beauty and labelmate Miguel. Tour plans halted by the COVID-19 pandemic led Hitchcock and his band to record a studio performance for video release and the accompanying album Live from Quarantine. After the four-track EP Everyday the 14th, he became a father and finished Once Upon a Time.

Issued in May 2023, Once Upon a Time included the collaboration "Callin'" with Big K.R.I.T. and Westside Gunn, yet the Hi-Five-sampling single "Thinking 'Bout You" reached even higher.
