Chaz French rose from the aftermath of a near-fatal car crash and periods of homelessness to establish himself as an intensely driven rapper who seizes opportunities and secured a deal with a major label. He entered the world in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Maryland, sharpening his skills throughout the D.C. region before dropping his debut mixtape, Happy Belated, during 2014. The follow-up project, These Things Take Time, surfaced in 2015. Having warmed up crowds for Waka Flocka Flame and shared stages with Wale plus his frequent partner GoldLink, French finished work on True Colors, which arrived in August 2017 via a joint venture between his own ThreeSixEight imprint and Motown. Contributions came from fellow Motown roster members BJ the Chicago Kid and Kevin Ross, in addition to Curren$y and Casey Veggies. Before the year ended he issued the Kill, Vol. 1 mixtape, spotlighting further artists from the DMV area around the capital. In 2018 he delivered the single “Can't Stop Us” and the track “Caliente” alongside IDK and Jay 305, while “Handful” featuring Rich the Kid emerged in 2019.
