Biography
Antonio Infantino, whose roles encompass architect, painter, beat poet, theater director, anthropologist, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, leads I Tarantolati of Tricarico. The ensemble draws upon Italy’s traditional tarantella rhythms to generate its own compositions. Italian magazine the Republic characterized the six-piece band as embodying “a distance of universal correspondences between sounds, colors, and various cultures where trance and wild dances of property, rhythms, and chasing cross ages and nations.” www.concertopoli.org commended the group for “creating true states of trance ecstatica...sound-color-movement invades the physical space.” Since its establishment in 1966, Infantino and I Tarantolati of Tricarico have sustained weekly appearances at the Fog Club in Matera.
