Barcelona-based techno musician Juan Rico records under the pseudonym Architectural. Although Rico gained wider recognition for the darker and more aggressive industrial techno he issues as Reeko, his Architectural output favors spacious, minimal textures shaped by ambient and dub elements. True to the project name, the productions are meticulously built and purposeful, yet they retain an underlying sense of motion and exploratory detail. The alias surfaced without attribution in 2010 through a run of singles on a label that carried the same title. Additional Architectural singles later surfaced on Paradigma Musik with “Dreams” and on Semantica Records with “Peacetime.” In 2013 Oscar Mulero’s Pole Recordings issued The Blue Album, jointly credited to Reeko and Architectural. The 2014 double-CD Secret Chapter, issued solely under Architectural on the artist’s own label, paired a disc of fresh material with a retrospective collection of the first four Architectural 12" EPs. Also that year came Architectural 05 and a split 12" EP with Kessell on Granulart Recordings. Wolfskuil Records released the third Architectural full-length, Amour, in 2015. The 10" single Seven followed on Architectural in 2016, succeeded by the Elastic Layouts EP on Non Series. Early 2017 brought the more experimental album Metropolitan Opera.
