Dolhai Attila, born January 7, 1977, in Kisvárda, Hungary, works as a classical crossover singer from that country. He first attracted widespread notice in 2000 by playing Tony in a Hungarian-language staging of West Side Story at Budapest’s Szegedi National Theater, listed as Szegedi Nemzeti Színház. Over the next several years he took part in many additional musical productions at the same theater as well as at the Budapest Opera Theater, also known as Budapesti Operettszínház. The role that brought him the greatest attention was Romeo in Rómeó és Júlia, the Hungarian adaptation of Romeo and Juliet mounted at the Budapest Opera Theater in 2004; its success prompted the release of a cast recording on CD. Building on the stage work that had established him earlier in the decade, he issued his first solo album, Ébredjen a Nap, in 2006. Strong sales followed for the subsequent releases Olasz Szerelem in 2007 and Egy Szerelem Története in 2008.
