Hungarian rock outfit Hooligans achieved their initial mainstream breakthrough in 2003 via the release of Szenzáció, whose multiple hit singles propelled the record to prominence. Later efforts from the group likewise achieved strong commercial results, climbing high on the Hungarian charts while yielding numerous singles apiece. The band formed in 1996 in Szerencs, Hungary, and features Ördög Tibor on vocals (born November 5, 1970, in Szerencs), Tóth Tibor on guitar (born October 30, 1969, in Sátoraljaújhely), Kiss Endre on drums (born September 21, 1970, in Miskolc), and Késmárki Zsolt on bass (born March 8, 1980, in Budapest). Their first album arrived in 1997 under the title Nem Hall, Nem Lát, Nem Beszél, with Mesét, Álmot, Mámort appearing the following year and Kánaán arriving in 2001. The fourth album, Szenzáció (2003), marked the point of widespread recognition, reaching the summit of the Hungarian albums chart and delivering the singles “Királylány,” “Játszom,” and “Legyen Valami.” Both Vírus (2005) and Bohémélet (2006) also topped the national charts, generating the successful tracks “Szabadon,” “Menj Tovább,” “Noben a Boldogság,” “Félember,” and “Rajtad Múlt.” Although Hooligans experienced a gradual softening of commercial dominance in subsequent years, they sustained steady popularity. Their seventh album, Privát Mennyország (2008), for example, registered strongly on the Hungarian charts and included the singles “Eljátszott Gyémánt” and “Ringass El.”
