Formed in 1985 by Endre Paksi, the former Pokolgép singer, Ossian took its name from the Celtic hero central to Scottish and Irish legend and soon ranked among the most enduring and widely followed metal acts on the Hungarian rock circuit. Guitarist Zoltán Maróthy, bassist T. Péter Kovács, and drummer Zsolt Galántai completed the original roster, and the musicians delivered their first live appearance during the summer of 1986. A debut demo surfaced that year, although the band waited until 1988 to issue its first official full-length record, Acélszív. That release inaugurated a sustained discography that eventually comprised fifteen studio albums across two decades, together with several EPs and live sets. In 2007 the power metal group—now built around vocalist Paksi, guitarists Richard Rubcsics and Attila Wéber, bassist Krisztián Erdélyi, and drummer Péter Hornyák—entered stores and simultaneously reached the summit of the Hungarian album charts with Örök Tuz.
