Established in 2001, the Irish traditional ensemble Téada—whose name translates as “strings”—soon secured an appearance on the Flosc program aired by Irish television, instantly furnishing the musicians with both exposure and a ready audience. Through the measured addition of John Blake (flute, guitar, piano), Sean McElwain (bouzouki, banjo), Oisin Mac Diarmada (fiddle), Paul Finn (button accordion, concertina), Damien Stenson (flute), and Tristan Rosenstock (bodhran), Téada’s lively accounts of classic reels, jigs, and hornpipes quickly established the group as a favored attraction on the international Celtic festival circuit. Green Linnet Records issued the self-titled Téada in 2003 and Give Us a Penny and Let Us Be Gone the following year. Gael-Linn brought out Lá An Dreoilín also in 2004. Compass Records presented Inné Amárach in 2006.
