Biography
In 1995 singer/guitarist Aurora joined forces with her brother, the musician and producer Iñaki of the Latin rock band Fobia, to create the Mexican all-female quartet Aurora y La Academia; the siblings had begun collaborating two years earlier. Keyboardist Alicia, formerly of Los Druidas, bassist Triny, and guitarist Leonor, late of Indecisión, completed the lineup, after which the group relocated to the United States to record its debut album, Horas. Issued in 1997, the record contained the hit single “Horas” and a Latin ska reading of José Luis Perales’ “¿Por Qué Te Vas?”
