Elsa Y Elmar

Although the stage name implies a duo, Elsa y Elmar is the solo endeavor of Colombian singer-songwriter Elsa Carvajal, whose bright Latin pop and rock songs carry an uplifting tone. Carvajal entered the world in Bucaramanga in 1993, started music lessons at age nine, and later studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music from 2011 through 2014. During her Berklee years she launched the Elsa y Elmar project to showcase her own material, issuing the debut EP Sentirnos Bien in 2013. Once her coursework ended, she settled in San Francisco and assembled a live band to support her growing schedule of concerts. Sony Music Mexico put out Rey, her first full-length album, in 2015. Carvajal made the move to Mexico in 2018, and her profile rose quickly thereafter. The 2019 follow-up Eres Diamante brought her first Latin Grammy nomination, and its 2022 successor Ya No Somos los Mismos earned four additional nods. Palacio, her fourth album under the Elsa y Elmar name, arrived in 2024.
