Biography
Born in Bogotá in 1988, Colombian singer-songwriter Paula Arenas grew up drawing from ranchera, balada, and French chanson. After issuing a pair of independent EPs in 2011 and 2012, she scored a modest success with “Lo Que el Tiempo Dejó.” Noticing her work, Julio Reyes Copello—the producer behind Marc Anthony, Alejandro Sanz, Chayanne, and countless other Latin-pop acts—signed her to his Art House Records imprint in 2014. Arenas relocated to Miami to collaborate with Copello, issuing her debut official single, “Nada,” in 2016; “Ahora Soy Libre” and “Hoy” quickly followed, accompanied by numerous prominent live appearances. Her first release for the label, the May 2017 EP Matices, earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
