Mexico's Sofía Reyes emerged as a dynamic pop singer fluent in multiple languages, favoring a fusion of dance-driven pop, reggaeton, and R&B. Early notice arrived via her collaboration on "Sólo Yo" with Prince Royce, after which her 2017 debut LP Louder! climbed to number eight on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart. Platinum certification followed the 2019 single "R.I.P." that paired her with Rita Ora and Anitta, while 2022's Mal de Amores returned her to the Top 20 of the Latin charts and 2023's Milamores examined the aftermath of a difficult split.

Born Úrsula Sofía Reyes Piñeyro in 1995 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, Reyes took up singing and piano near age ten. She advanced to songwriting alongside her father two years afterward and began posting cover versions on YouTube. Those clips drew the interest of singer/producer Prince Royce, who placed her on his D'Leon Records label. Her debut single, "Forever Now" featuring rapper/singer/actor Khleo Thomas, surfaced in 2013, followed a year later by "Muévelo" featuring rapper Wisin. Two further 2016 releases arrived—"Sólo Yo"/"Nobody But Me," again with Prince Royce, and "Llegaste Tú" with Reykon—while guest spots appeared on Cash Cash's "How to Love" and Spencer Ludwig's "Diggy."

Warner Music Latina issued her long-awaited first album, Louder!, in early 2017; it reached number eight on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart and collected earlier singles such as "Muévelo," "Sólo Yo," and "Llegaste Tú." That same year brought a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. In 2018 she delivered "Vamos por la Estrella" alongside Paty Cantú and Kap G, a track composed for the Mexican national soccer team ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

The upbeat, three-language single "R.I.P." surfaced in early 2019, uniting Reyes with U.K. singer/actress Rita Ora and Brazilian pop superstar Anitta; it reached the Top Ten in Mexico and number 19 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, later earning a Latin American Music Award and a LOS40 Music Award. She next appeared with Thalía and Farina on 2020's "Tick Tock." Her second album, Mal de Amores, arrived in 2022 and entered at number 15 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart, propelled by its title track with Becky G, a Top Ten Latin Pop platinum single. Additional Top 30 Mexican successes from the set included "Casualidad" with Pedro Capó and "Marte" with María Becerra. Milamores followed in 2023, documenting Reyes's process of recovery and reinvention after a painful breakup and featuring Danna Paola, Gera MX, and Mariah Angeliq.
