Hailing from Mexico City, the award-winning sibling duo Jesse & Joy have built a global following through bright, hook-driven pop that weaves rock, folk shimmer, norteño, cumbia, and Latin rhythms together. Jesse Huerta supplies piano, lead guitar, and harmony vocals, while Joy Huerta delivers lead vocals and rhythm guitar; the pair also share songwriting duties, their voices locking seamlessly over instantly catchy choruses.

The 2006 Warner debut Esta Es Mi Vida earned platinum certification and multiple Latin Grammys. Their 2009 follow-up Electricidad reached gold status and climbed to number three on the U.S. Latin Pop chart. The 2011 release ¿Con Quién Se Queda El Perro? achieved multi-platinum sales behind the chart-topping single “Corre.” In 2015 Un Besito Más topped both the U.S. Latin and Latin Pop albums charts, landed at number three in Mexico, and captured the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. The gold-certified 2016 album Jesse & Joy marked their first bilingual project, presenting English-language versions of earlier material. They returned in 2020 with Aire, which folded reggaeton and trap into the mix and featured J Balvin on “Mañana Es Too Late” alongside Luis Fonsi on “Tanto.”

The Huerta siblings did not begin composing seriously until 2001, when Jesse was 18 and Joy 15; they sat with their father to test ideas, Jesse handling guitar, piano, drums, and background vocals while Joy focused on vocals and guitar. After years of rehearsal they secured a deal with Warner Music Mexico in April 2005 under the name Jesse & Joy. Months later they made their live bow before 100,000 hometown fans at the invitation of Sin Bandera. Additional shows followed, including a May support slot for James Blunt, before the summer 2006 arrival of their debut single “Espacio Sideral” and the Kiko Cibrian-produced Esta Es Mi Vida, recorded in San Diego. A U.S. release came the next year. Tom Russo helmed the 2009 album Electricidad, and Martin Terefe produced ¿Con Quién Se Queda el Perro? in 2012.

After that album’s release the duo spent nearly two years on international stages, appearing repeatedly at the Latin American Music Awards, the Latin Grammys, and Coachella. While still recording they issued the 2014 live package Soltando al Perro, which contained unreleased bonus tracks. For Un Besito Más, Jesse worked alongside Terefe, Fraser T. Smith, and Juan Luis Guerra, who also sang on the title track “Besito Mas.” Lead single “Ecos de Amor” arrived in August and entered the top 50 on multiple charts; the full album followed in December 2015, remained on the Latin albums chart for more than 26 weeks, and reached number one. The 2017 bilingual compilation Jesse & Joy gathered English versions of songs from prior releases.

In 2019 J Balvin joined them for the hit single “Mañana Es Too Late.” They released Aire the following year, again teaming with Terefe and adding Pooh Bear as co-producer. The set also included the singles “Te Espeé” and “Lo Nuestro Vale Más.”
