Rosana Arbelo, an accomplished Spanish singer-songwriter with multiple awards to her credit, discovered music after receiving her first guitar at age five and writing her initial song three years afterward. Her devotion to the craft deepened while she attended a local Catholic school, leading her to relocate to Madrid for dedicated musical studies. Ahead of launching her own career she supplied material to established Spanish performers such as Joaquín Sabina, Miguel Rios, and María Dolores Pradera. Using only her first name, she issued her solo debut Lunas Rotas in 1996; the album spawned the charting singles “El Talisman” and “Sin Miedo.” That year she also collected two Onda Awards for Best Album and Revelation of the Year, while director Quentin Tarantino placed both “El Talisman” and Lunas Rotas on the soundtrack to his film Curled. Luna Nueva followed in 1998. For the next three years she concentrated on writing for other artists before resurfacing in 2001 with her self-titled third album, whose arrangements incorporated the layered rhythms of her native Canary Islands. Marca Registrada arrived in 2003 as a double-disc set containing twelve of her greatest hits, ten new tracks, and two videos. On her fourth studio album, Magia, Rosana adopted a stronger pop-rock direction that she continued to refine with 2011’s 8 Lunas. In 2016 she released the intimate En la Memoria de la Pel to coincide with her twentieth anniversary as a recording artist.
