Pablo Alborán first drew widespread attention through his sincere acoustic pop, distinguished by flamenco-inflected guitar lines and emotionally direct love songs. His ascent began in Spain during 2010 when the single “Solamente Tú” reached the top of the charts, paving the way for his self-titled debut album the following year, which earned multi-platinum status. Each of his initial five studio releases reached number one on the Spanish albums chart; the third of these, 2014’s Terral, additionally claimed the top spot on the U.S. Latin Pop Albums tally and received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. In 2017 the single “No Vaya a Ser,” drawn from his fourth studio effort Prometo, became his eleventh top-ten hit in Spain, while the album itself earned another Grammy nod. He returned to number one in his home country with the 2020 release Vertigo and again with La Cuarta Hoja in 2022.

Born Pablo Moreno de Alborán Ferrándiz on May 31, 1989, in Málaga, Spain, he picked up the guitar early and began composing songs by age twelve. A major-label deal with EMI soon followed, leading to the 2011 appearance of his debut full-length, Pablo Alborán. Bolstered by the chart-topping “Solamente Tú,” the album held the Spanish number-one position for six consecutive weeks and ultimately achieved six-times platinum certification there, while the follow-up single “Miedo” also performed strongly. Later that year he issued the live recording En Acústico, which yielded the Spanish chart-topper “Perdóname,” a collaboration with Portuguese fado singer Carminho, and the hit “Te He Echado de Menos.”

Much of 2012 was devoted to touring and preparing his sophomore project. By November both the single and album Tanto had arrived, surpassing the commercial reach of his first record by remaining at number one in Spain for an extended period and moving nearly twice the previous sales total. Further singles “El Beso” and “Quién” each ascended to the summit of the Spanish charts. Terral, his completely self-written third album, emerged in 2014; co-produced in Los Angeles by Alborán and Eric Rosse, it delivered Spanish number-one singles “Por Fin” and “Pasos de Cero” while marking his first U.S. Latin chart-topper. In April 2016 he released “Se Puede Amar” ahead of a Central American tour, and that August he reissued “Dónde Está el Amor” with Brazilian singer Tiê for the telenovela soundtrack Haja Coração.

Prometo, a thirteen-track set led by the romantic top-twenty singles “Saturno” and “No Vaya a Ser,” appeared in November 2017. It occupied the Spanish summit for seven weeks and secured Alborán’s second consecutive Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album. The dance-oriented single “Tabú” surfaced in 2019 and spawned a remix EP featuring Ava Max. His fifth studio album, the Grammy-nominated Vertigo, produced by Julio Reyes Copello, debuted at number one upon its December 2020 release. Two 2022 singles, “Amigos (con Maria Becerra)” and “Ave de Paso (con Ana Mena),” preceded the arrival of his sixth full-length, La Cuarta Hoja, later that December.
