Having penned material for a range of performers early on—including Mexicans Paulina Rubio and Julieta Venegas along with compatriots Diego Torres and Alejandro Lerner—Coti Sorokin relocated to Spain to launch his own recording path. His debut album appeared in 2002, though the bulk of its tracking had taken place back in Buenos Aires. The release earned him the support slot for Shakira’s Madrid concert during her 2003 tour, after which he delivered the follow-up Canciones Para Llevar in 2004. An expanded edition with extra tracks surfaced in 2005, only months prior to the arrival of his first concert recording, Esta Mañana y Otros Cuentos, which later earned gold certification in both Argentina and Mexico. Building on that momentum, he issued his third studio effort, Gatos y Palomas, in 2007. Following a two-year hiatus, Coti resurfaced with his fourth album, Malditas Canciones, whose single “Nunca Tendré” was promoted via a video featuring fellow Argentines Maxi Rodríguez and Diego Forlán. In 2012 the multi-instrumentalist unveiled his fifth set, Lo Dije por Boca de Otro, handling production, arrangements, and much of the playing himself.
