Hailing from Palma del Rio in Cordoba, Antonio Jose has charted as a Spanish pop and rock vocalist whose professional career commenced at the tender age of ten. Singing occupied his attention almost from infancy, yet football shared equal billing with music during his childhood years. Spurred by his mother, he began entering local contests, and at eight he captured first prize in the 2003 Veo Veo competition backed by the Teresa Rabal Foundation. The victory earned him a half-year voice scholarship at a regional academy. Two years later he carried Spain’s colors at Junior Eurovision, delivering “Te Traigo Flores” to a second-place finish; Vale Music released the identically titled debut album the same year. Heavy promotional pushes on television and radio failed to lift its sales, and plans for a follow-up disc were shelved. Undeterred, he resumed club dates and festival appearances while continuing to refine his material and test himself in additional contests. In 2015 he joined the third season of the Spanish edition of The Voice, ultimately winning the title and securing a contract with Universal Music. His first release for the label, El Viaje, climbed into Spain’s Top 20, while the single “El Arte de Vivir” peaked at number eight. Following roughly sixty concerts in support of that project, he reentered the studio to co-write with an array of seasoned collaborators. The advance single “Contigo” arrived in April 2016 and rose to number six; its parent album Senti2, issued that August, debuted at number one on the Spanish charts.
