Mexican Aleks Syntek entered the world in Mérida on September 29, 1969. Early on, the versatile musician lent his talents to commercials, television programs, and motion pictures. Toward the end of the 1980s, he joined two companions to launch an alternative group. EMI issued their debut album, Hey Tú!, in 1990, and the follow-up, Más Fuerte de Lo Que Pensaba, appeared three years later. Former Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek contributed to that second release by performing on the track “Nuestras Costumbres.” Aleks Syntek y la Gente Normal subsequently toured throughout Latin America as the singles “Mis Impulsos Sobre Tí,” “El Camino,” and “Más Fuerte de Lo Que Pensaba” rose on major charts in Chile, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Argentina. Bienvenido a la Vida reached stores in 1995, and Lugar Secreto, helmed by Rodolfo Cruz and Michael Rojkind, followed in 1997. The band also took part in a Latin tribute collection honoring the British group Queen. In 1999, Syntek helmed the soundtrack for Sexo Pudor y Lágrimas and shifted focus to a solo path. While continuing to score films, he maintained a consistent release schedule through the 2000s with De Noche en la Ciudad (2001), Multiple (2003), Mundo Lite (2004), and Lección de Vuelo (2007).
