Mexican alternative pop/rock trailblazers Fobia entered the scene via a self-titled 1990 debut that spotlighted “Microbito,” their initial hit, and then delivered Mundo Feliz in 1991 plus Leche two years later. Following the 1995 appearance of Amor Chiquito, founding drummer Jorge Amaro exited, with Jay de la Cueva—previously the percussionist for Víctimas del Doctor Cerebro—taking his place. The band resurfaced in 1997 via the concert recording Fobia on Ice, captured at Mexico City’s Metropolitan Theater as well as in Monterrey and Guadalajara, before splitting up the next year. Singer Leonardo de Lozanne promptly launched a solo path, while keyboardist Iñaki Vásquez teamed with his sister Aurora on the first Aurora y la Academia album. Years afterward the group reunited, restoring de Lozanne, de la Cueva, Vásquez and guitarist Paco Huidobro while recruiting Cha! to handle bass. Their return yielded Rosa Venus in 2006, the first studio effort in a decade and overall fifth LP, issued through Sony International.
