After Rum and Coke and El Décimo Piso dissolved, the Panamanian Latin rock outfit los Rabanes assembled in 1992. By 1994 the trio had built a circuit of shows across Panama and stood out among the country’s leading rock acts. That year they cut ¿Por Qué Te Fuiste Benito? for Kiwi Records, and MTV Latino began rotating the video for the title track. Latin American touring commenced in 1995, with los Rabanes sharing bills alongside rock en Español outfits such as Todos Tus Muertos and Aterciopelados. Two years afterward the band issued All Star Volumen 2, produced by Flavio Cianciarulo of los Fabulosos Cadillacs. In 1999 the group relocated to Spain and appeared at FestiMad, the festival topped by Metallica; the same year they performed in New York with Control Machete. Their self-titled album arrived in 2000, tracked in Miami under the supervision of Roberto Blades and Emilio Estefan Jr.
