Formed in Chile during the late 1980s, the folk-rock outfit Los Tres arose when vocalist and guitarist Alvaro Henríquez, bassist Roberto Lindl, and drummer Francisco Molina resolved to launch a rock project distinguished by an unbreakable sense of humor. They named the endeavor Los Tres. After relocating from Concepción to Santiago de Chile, Henríquez, Lindl, and Molina encountered guitarist Angel Parra, who joined as the group’s lead guitarist. The self-titled Los Tres appeared in 1991, coinciding with the signing of a Sony Music contract. Se Remata el Siglo arrived in 1993 and attained platinum certification. The ensemble’s fluency across multiple styles propelled widespread popularity. Also in 1993, La Espada y la Pared was issued, and the accompanying clip for “Dejate Caer” earned an MTV Latino nomination for video of the year. In 1996 the band taped an MTV Unplugged performance that was subsequently released as an album, while simultaneously embarking on tours across the Americas. A later return to their musical origins yielded Yeir Fonda, which was succeeded by the 1997 album Fome and the 1998 release Peineta, the latter spotlighting Chilean folklore figures Roberto Parra and Eduardo Parra. La sangre en el Cuerpo surfaced in 1999, the same year the group announced its dissolution.
