Biography
Attaque 77, an Argentinean heavy metal outfit, first entered the local rock circuit in 1987. Drawing strong inspiration from British punk, the band made its live debut opening for Descontrol. Its two tracks “B.A.D.” and “Sola En La Cancha” appeared on the 1988 compilation Invasión 88. Guitarist Daniel Martínez exited soon afterward, and Leonardo de Cecco replaced drummer Claudio Leiva. The group tracked its debut album, Dulce Navidad, in 1989 with Michel Peyronel at the helm; around the same moment Federico Pertusi departed and Adrián Vera came aboard on bass. A live set captured at Buenos Aires’ Obras Sanitarias, Rabioso La Pesadilla Recién Comienza, arrived in 1991 and was followed the next year by Angeles Caídos, which contained a cover of José Luis Perales’ smash “Por Qué Te Vas.” In 1996 the band supported the Ramones on their final tour, then relocated to California the following year to record new material co-produced by Jim Wirt and to play several U.S. venues.
