Biography
Formed in 1987, the Argentine Latin rock group Los Piojos gained recognition primarily through their fusion of rock elements with indigenous musical traditions including tango and candombe. Following their appearance alongside Mano Negra at an anti-racist event in Paris, the ensemble released their initial recording Chac tu Chac, which preceded the 1994 effort Ay Ay Ay and 1996's Tercer Arco. In 1998, Los Piojos traveled to the United States to support Azul, with shows taking place in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Miami. Captured during a May 1999 performance at Obras Sanitarias in Buenos Aires, the live album Ritual emerged next. Sebastián Cardero took over drumming duties from founding member Daniel Buira in 2000, coinciding with the launch of Verde Paisaje Del Infierno.
