Following the dissolution of Sumo after its frontman Luca Prodan passed away, the Argentine group Las Pelotas assembled. Its founding roster featured guitarist German Daffunchio, drummer Alberto Troglio, bassist Willy Robles, singer-guitarist Alejandro Sokol, and keyboardist Andrea Prodan. Máscara de Sal appeared in 1994. Not long afterward, Gustavo Jove took over the drum chair from Troglio while Tomás Sussman entered as the band’s fresh guitarist. In 1995 Las Pelotas served as one of the Rolling Stones’ support acts at Buenos Aires’ River Plate stadium. The album La Clave del Éxito surfaced the next year. During 1997 the group joined Argentina’s leading rock acts for a landmark concert honoring the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo’s twentieth anniversary. Para Qué arrived in 1998, succeeded by Todo Por un Polvo in 1999.
