Biography
Viejas Locas, an Argentinean rock band, came together in the early 1990s when classmates from a Buenos Aires high school who had been performing Rolling Stones covers decided to form the group. Their first live performance took place in November 1990 at the Alcatraz club, featuring Mauro Bonom handling vocals, Diego Cantoni and Cristian Alvarez on guitars, Gastón Mansilla behind the drums, along with a fill-in bassist. The opportunity to share the bill with La Renga on November 30, 1991, elevated them to prominence within the local underground scene. Shortly thereafter, the lineup stabilized with the addition of bassist Fabian Crea, guitarist Sergio Toloza, and drummer Fabian Crea. The year 1993 saw the band contribute tracks "Eva" and "Tirado En La Estación" to the compilation Una Noche En La Cueva. Following their signing with PolyGram, they issued their self-titled debut album in 1996, which gained traction on rock charts thanks to "Intoxicado." Hermanos de Sangre arrived the following year. The band earned the slot to open for the Rolling Stones at River Plate Stadium and later headlined at Obras Sanitarias. Their third release, Especial, came out in 1999.
