La Renga, an Argentine Latin rock band, made their initial stage appearance in 1988 before launching their career with the independent release Esquivando Charcos in 1991. Their sophomore effort, A Dónde Me Llevan la Vida, arrived two years afterward. By 1994 the group had filled Buenos Aires’ premier hall, Obras Sanitarias, to capacity even as Polygram began handling their catalog. The 1995 album Bailando en Una Pata contained the hit single “Nacido Para Ser Salvaje,” a Spanish-language rendering of Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild” that found widespread success. Ricardo Mollo oversaw production of 1996’s Despedazado Por Mil Partes. Following a self-titled studio album and La Esquina del Infinito, the live recording Insoportablemente Vivo appeared in 2001.
