Biography
Latin alternative metal trio Catupecu Machu began performing concerts in the mid-'90s after circulating a self-released demo titled Lavatuto. Singer/guitarist Fernando Ruiz Díaz, bassist Gabriel Ruiz Díaz, and drummer Miguel Sosa (aka "Abril") launched their own imprint in 1997 to issue the band's debut album, Dale!. On October 10, 1998, the newly arrived Argentinian rock outfit taped the live set A Morir!. The following year Catupecu Machu joined the Monsters of Rock bill, opening for Almafuerte, Sepultura, and Metallica at Buenos Aires' River Plate stadium. Cuentos Decapitados marked their first international release. Bassist Gabriel Ruiz Diaz died on January 23, 2021 in Santa Fe, Argentina at the age of 45.
