Biography
Divididos originated in Argentina as a rock outfit born from the dissolution of Sumo following the death of vocalist Luca Prodan. The Latin rock act entered the scene in 1989 via its first album, 40 Dibujos Ahi En El Piso. Early on, despite the fresh name, audiences continued to associate the musicians with their former project, repeatedly requesting performances of Sumo material. Drummer Federico Gil Solá joined in 1990 once Gustavo Collado departed. The following year brought the release of Acariciandolo Aspero. After an introduction to producer Gustavo Santaolalla, the group relocated to the U.S. to record its next effort, La Era De La Boludez. Jorge Araujo assumed drumming duties in place of Federico Gil Solá in 1995, after which the band issued an eponymous album and then issued Gol De Mujer in 1998 and 10 in 1999. Also in 1999, Divididos marked its tenth anniversary with a concert at Buenos Aires’ Obras Sanitarias. The year 2000 saw the arrival of Narigón Del Siglo alongside the double album Viveza Criolla.
