Argentinean rock band Vilma Palma e Vampiros came together in 1991. Their debut single arrived the next year. Issued by Sony Music, the album La Pachanga moved more than 100,000 units and featured the title track that quickly dominated airwaves across South America. Vocalist Mario Gómez and guitarist Jorge Risso had earlier performed together in Identikit, yet disappointing critical response prompted them to launch a fresh endeavor joined by drummer Carlos González, bassist Gerardo Pugliani, keyboardist Gustavo Sacchetti, and singers Karina Di Lorenzo and Natalia Moscariello. The ensemble tracked 3980 in 1993, secured platinum certification at home, and embarked on an extensive Latin American tour. Fondo Profundo, released in 1994, confirmed their strong standing throughout the region and was succeeded by the 1995 album Sepia, Blanco y Negro, the 1996 live set En Vivo, the 1997 studio effort Angeles y Demonios, and the greatest-hits collection 15 Grandes Exitos. Hecatombe Disco appeared in 1998, while the new millennium brought the release of their album 7.
