Manuel Turizo Zapata, a Colombian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist working in urbano and reggaeton, distinguishes himself through a notably smooth and velvety tenor vocal style. He has carved significant pathways into the global Latin pop arena. The 2016 release “Una Lady Como Tú” earned him the Colombian Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Song in 2017. His debut album, ADN, appeared on the Medellin-based, Sony-distributed imprint La Industria Inc. and climbed to number eight on the Top Latin Albums chart. The next year he paired with Ozuna on the Top Five hit “Vaina Loca.” In 2020 he joined Noriel for “Mala Influencia,” then issued his second album, Dopamina, which charted the following year. Later in 2021 he shared a duet with TINI on the streaming success “Maldita Foto.” The 2023 set 2000 contained the major single “La Bachata.” A series of popular tracks followed in 2024, among them the hit “1000 Cosas” alongside Lola Indigo.

Raised in a household filled with music—his mother and older brother both active musicians—Turizo has recalled that taking part in musical activities felt mandatory during his upbringing. As a youngster he studied saxophone, guitar, ukulele, and piano. Although he once planned to pursue veterinary medicine, his brother Julian persuaded him to study voice with a Cuban instructor; discovering his own singing ability shifted his direction entirely. Early professional demands forced him to complete his schooling through online courses.

His first two independent singles, “Baila Conmigo” and “Vámonos,” both produced by his brother, drew favorable social-media attention and interest from music executives in 2016. On March 16, 2017, he issued “Una Lady Como Tú” with an accompanying video that quickly amassed roughly 300 million views. He then signed with the Sony Music-distributed label La Industria Inc. The song reached the Top 40 of Hot Latin Songs and performed even stronger on Digital Song Sales, Latin Pop Songs, and YouTube charts. After serving as an opening act for Ozuna on a Colombian trek, he launched his own nationwide club tour that sold out every date.

In May 2017 reggaeton artist Valentino released “Bésame,” which featured Turizo and gathered 50 million views, giving him broader international visibility. That August he unveiled a remix of “Una Lady Como Tú” with Nicky Jam that received widespread airplay across Latin America and the United States. With 2018’s “Culpables” he attained the number-six position on the Colombian charts; the track later appeared on his 2019 debut full-length, ADN, which peaked at number four in Mexico and entered the Top Ten of Billboard’s Top Latin Albums ranking.

The same year Turizo scored another substantial success with “Desconocidos,” featuring Mau y Ricky and Camilo. The 2019 collaboration “Dile la Verdad” with Jowell & Randy reached number two, soon followed by the platinum-certified “Esclavo de Tus Besos” alongside Ozuna. In 2020 he returned to the Latin charts with “La Nota,” which included Rauw Alejandro and Myke Towers, and again worked with Noriel on “Mala Influencia.” Early 2021 brought the single “Mala Costumbre” with Wisin & Yandel, and in April he delivered his sophomore album, Dopamina, which rose to number 15 on the Top Latin Albums chart while landing inside the Top 20 on streaming platforms. Later that year he joined TINI for her hit duet “Maldita Foto.” Among his 2022 output was the major success “La Bachata.” Together with “Éxtasis” and “El Merengue,” the song anchored his third album, 2000, issued in 2023 and peaking at number 11 on the Latin Albums chart. Subsequent partnerships with Sean Paul and Shakira appeared, and in October he put out the solo single “ojos. labios. cara.” He maintained a steady release pace through 2024, highlighted by tracks such as “1000 Cosas” with Lola Indigo, “Sussy” with Maffa and Ñengo Flow, and the solo offering “Dios Te Cuide.”
