Biography
Colombian artist Feid, a singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer working in reggaetón and cumbia, possesses a fluid, distinctive tenor voice that stands out immediately. He has written tracks for and performed alongside many leading figures in reggaetón. His first solo project, the 2015 album Así Como Suena, reached the domestic charts. The 2017 follow-up release, also titled Así Como Suena, presented both standalone cuts such as the hit singles “Lluvia” and “Ahora” and joint performances. The full-length 19 came out in 2019. Two digital projects, Bahía Ducati and Ferxxo (Vol. 1: M.O.R.), surfaced in 2020, followed by Inter Shibuya: La Mafia in 2021. A series of singles that year featured the successful track “Si Te La Encuentras por Ahí,” while the album Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos el Album also appeared. In September 2023 Feid issued the Top Ten-charting set MOR, No Le Temas a La Oscuridad; the Ferxxocalipsis EP followed in December and entered the Top Ten upon release. Further joint releases kept him on the charts throughout 2024, among them the Manifesting 20-05 EP with Yandel and LOS 9 DE FERXXO Y SKY ROMPIENDO with Sky Rompiendo.
Salomón Villada Hoyos, born in Medellín in 1992, chose the stage name Feid to reflect his conviction in his own ability; the phrase conveys “sound faith,” signifying trust in both divine guidance and personal strength. His mother, Berta Lucía Hoyos, works as a preschool teacher and psychologist, while his father, Jorge Mario Villada, instructs in art history at the University of Antioquia. Creative pursuits filled his early years under his parents’ guidance, who emphasized that artistic practice supplies essential means for engaging with reality and fosters openness to experience. Although music surrounded him at home, his first structured involvement came at age nine through extension courses at the University of Antioquia in Medellín, where he acquired music-reading skills and learned the clarinet. Singing, however, became his true focus; he joined the children’s choir at the university extension center and recorded a Christmas carol album with the ensemble. That experience proved decisive, prompting Feid to pursue music professionally. He continued in choirs through high school and began solo performances in college, where positive responses from peers and local listeners reinforced his direction.
Still a student, he committed to reggaetón, concentrating on crafting songs and laying down demo recordings. Compositions he supplied during this period went to Nicky Jam, Alberto Stylee, Magnate & Valentino, Reykon, and J Balvin. His own debut single, “Morena,” arrived in 2015 and unexpectedly dominated radio, video outlets, and clubs throughout Latin America, elevating his standing both as a songwriter and performer. He next issued the independent long-player Así Como Suena, which yielded additional charting tracks “Si Supieras” and “La Repuesta”; later that year he co-wrote J Balvin’s “Ginza.” Produced by René Alejandro Ramirez and David Cano, the song reached the top of the Hot Latin Songs chart and earned multi-platinum certification.
Feid secured a Universal Music contract in 2016 and released the single “Que Raro,” which featured Balvin and peaked at number 16 on the Tropical Songs chart. In November 2017 he rerecorded Así Como Suena in its entirety, presenting fresh versions of the 2015 material both alone and with guests Jory and Nacho. Singles in 2018 included the Greeicy collaboration “Perfecto” as well as the solo tracks “Nuestra Canción” and “Sígueme.” His second studio album, 19, appeared in May 2019, achieved platinum status, and received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Urban Album. Among a dozen singles that year, “Fresh Kerias” with Maluma and Sky Rompiendo reached number 18 in Colombia and charted in nine additional countries; its successor, “Porfa” with Justin Quiles, climbed to number two in Argentina and registered across thirteen territories. Feid’s own releases and guest appearances combined for fifteen chart entries that year.
Following global touring and a brief hiatus, he returned in 2020 with two digital projects. Ferxxo (Vol. 1: M.O.R.) emerged in April amid the COVID-19 pandemic, incorporating earlier charting singles plus “Boraxxa” with Manuel Turizo and “CU U U U UX” with Alvaro Diaz; it attained number 27 on Top Latin Albums. In September the ten-track Bahia Ducati EP arrived, containing only one solo performance (“Nea”) and spotlighting collaborations and remixes with Sech on “Jamaica,” Zion & Lennox on “Fotografia,” and De la Ghetto on “Break Up,” ultimately reaching number 30 on the same chart.
Feid resumed live work in 2021. August brought the fifteen-track long-player Inter Shibuya: La Mafia, recorded almost entirely without guests; Sky Rompiendo joined on the hit single “Chimbita.” December saw the release of Inter Shibuya (Ferxxo Edition), which added nine tracks featuring Karol G on “Friki,” Ryan Castro on “Monastery,” Sael on “Mionca Al Bloque,” and the Rudeboyz on “Rudeboyz.” The 2022 singles “Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo” and “Si Te La Encuentras por Ahí” preceded the September arrival of Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos el Album, a fifteen-song set that entered the Top Ten on Top Latin Albums, reached number two in streaming, and earned gold certification within a week. Later that year the Sixdo EP appeared, featuring Lennox, Jory Boy, and DJ Premier.
September 2023 marked the release of the sixteen-track album Mor, No le Temas a la Oscuridad, produced chiefly by Sky Rompiendo alongside additional contributors; it mixed solo numbers with appearances by Nengo Flow, Sean Paul, ICON, Rema, Ryan Castro, Cupido, Young Cister, and Pailita. The project peaked at number four on Top Latin Albums and debuted at number 31 on the Billboard 200. Feid closed the year with the ten-song Ferxxocalipsis EP in December, which included Manas Ru-Fino on “La Vuelta,” Pirlo on “Cual Es Esa,” ATL Jacob on “Luna,” and Young Miko on “Classy 101,” along with production from Wain, Illy Wonder, and G’s on the Beats; it entered the Top Ten. In April 2024 the non-album single “Sorry 4 That Much” reached the Top Ten on Latin charts, while the Manifesting 20-05 EP with Yandel entered the Top 30; that November he teamed again with Sky Rompiendo for the collaborative album LOS 9 DE FERXXO Y SKY ROMPIENDO, led by the single “PPCP.”
