The urban Latin singer-rapper performing under the name Dalex was born Pedro David Daleccio Torres in Philadelphia and first rose to prominence as half of the chart-topping reggaeton duo Jayma & Dalex. In 2014 that partnership notched several successful singles crafted by Hitmen, among them “Aquellos Tiempos,” “Me Encantas,” “Mañana,” and “Lento,” the last featuring Cosculluela. Although Dalex had planned to pursue a solo path from the outset, management encouraged him to team with Jayma; once that arrangement ended he reactivated his independent career in 2017 with the track “Indomable,” which led to the global chart-topper “Puesto Pal Millón Remix” after he joined Rich Music. His first full-length project, Climaxxx, appeared in 2019 and was followed in 2021 by Unisex. He has since balanced headline releases with featured appearances on material by Dimelo Flo, Cazzu, Lenuel, Alex Rose, and Justin Quiles, while also contributing songs for Axel Caram, DJ Alex, and DJ John; further solo EPs include 2023’s Reggaetón Sex.

Born in Philadelphia in 1990, Dalex experienced his parents’ divorce at age eleven and relocated first to Allentown, Pennsylvania, before moving again in 2012 to Puerto Rico after struggling to settle. Immersed in classic reggaeton and North American R&B, he filled a personal journal with poems and rhymes throughout his youth. Following high school he trained at barber college; upon completion he headed to Orlando, Florida, to test a music career. His style and material secured a deal with Anikin Entertainment, a label that had previously collaborated with White Lion and Flow Music. Anikin had also signed Juan Rodríguez, known as Jayma, whom Dalex had encountered roughly five years earlier. While both artists worked in the same studio a producer suggested they record together, prompting the formation of the duo.

Their opening single, “Aquellos Tiempos,” became a regional success and positioned the pair as emerging voices in urban Latin music. Beyond their own catalog they contributed to tracks by Jowell and Randy, J Alvarez, and Guelo Star. The 2015 releases “Me Encantas” and “Mañana” proved their strongest commercial entries and supported extensive touring across Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2016 they issued “Encendia Lucia,” which enlisted Jory Boy, Lil Geniuz, and Super Yei; produced by JX El Ingeniero & Young Izaak, the song reached audiences internationally and charted in Colombia, Spain, and the United States.

Late in 2017 Dalex resumed his solo trajectory, signing with Miami’s Rich Music and releasing “Puesto Pal Millón Remix” the following year alongside Justin Quiles, Alex Rose, Arcángel, Myke Torres, and Sech. Working with various producers, he continued issuing singles and videos, eventually launching a dedicated YouTube channel for his growing audience. The 2018 EP La Nueva Ola earned critical praise along with radio and streaming traction. By 2019 he was assembling his debut album while accumulating multiple global chart entries; the March remix of the prior year’s “Pa Mi,” helmed by Dimelo Flow, reached number one on streaming lists in twelve countries and placed inside the top three in six additional territories. Climaxxx arrived that May, landing inside the top twenty on both the Latin Rhythms Albums chart and the Global Streaming tally. In June he issued the viral single and video “Cuaderno,” which featured Nicky Jam, Sech, Justin Quiles, Feid, Lenny Tavárez, and Rafa Pabon. Later that year he joined Rich Music labelmates Sech and Justin Quiles on the collective project The Academy. The 2020 mixtape Modo Avión extended his output into the next year.

Unisex, his second studio album, surfaced in 2021. Merging upbeat reggaeton with EDM-inflected R&B, it contained the singles “Máquina del Tiempo” and “XLEY,” the latter featuring Trey Songz. The EP Yo Te Quiero Pa Mi followed in 2022, and Reggaetón Sex arrived in 2023.
