Emerging as a Spanish vocalist and tunesmith, Álvaro Soler first attracted widespread notice in 2015 through his platinum-certified track “El Mismo Sol,” which appeared both as a solo release and in a separate edition carrying guest vocals from Jennifer Lopez. Living in Germany, he saw his debut album, Eterno Agosto, issued in 2016 and register across European charts, just as the follow-up, Mar de Colores, did upon its arrival in 2018. His third studio effort, Magia, reached stores in 2021.

A native of Barcelona, Soler accompanied his parents to Japan at the age of ten and soon commenced piano studies there. When the family returned to Barcelona after he turned 17, he formed the pop outfit Urban Lights with his brother and several friends. The ensemble competed on the reality program ¡Tú Sí Que Vales! in 2013, finishing among the final eight acts before Soler elected to exit.

After settling in Berlin, his 2015 single “El Mismo Sol” registered an unforeseen breakthrough in Italy and Switzerland; a bilingual Spanish-English adaptation featuring Jennifer Lopez subsequently lifted it onto charts in the United States and United Kingdom as well. The full-length Eterno Agosto appeared in 2016 and claimed the top spot in both Italy and Switzerland. One of its singles, “Sofia,” ascended to number one in four European territories. March 2018 brought another continental hit in “La Cintura,” the opening single from his second album, Mar de Colores, which surfaced later that year and likewise placed across Europe, including a top-ten showing in Spain.

The gold-certified single “Magia” surfaced in early 2021 ahead of the album of the same name, which followed in July.
